Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (primary day shift); weeknight on-call rotation 3:15 PM - 6:45 AM (1-2 weeknights/week); weekend on-call rotation every 3-4 weeks Fri 3:15 PM - Mon 6:45 AM; rotating nights, weekends and holidays as required

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room for open heart, valve and thoracic cases
• Participate in ECMO and mechanical circulatory support cases including Impella 5.5 when required
• Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC, maintaining excellent documentation and communication
• Respond to on-call notifications within the required response time and provide safe, timely care
• Cross-train and float to general OR or inpatient units to support staffing needs and help with 1:1 sitter duties
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR techs and charge nurses to ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Follow unit protocols, participate in orientation and continuing education to maintain clinical competency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for North Dakota submission
• Minimum 3 years of CVOR experience (Open heart, CABG, valve cases required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Comfortable with call responsibilities including weeknights, weekends and rotating holidays
• Willingness to cross-train into general OR and float to other units as needed
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required for submission (hospital indicates BSN Required: No)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and acute care nursing knowledge specific to cardiovascular procedures
• Familiarity with open heart procedures (CABG, valve surgery), thoracotomies, VATS and vascular cases
• Experience with advanced support devices: ECMO and Impella 5.5
• Comfortable assisting with or supporting robotic cases and Stryker tower equipment
• Excellent communication, teamwork and quick critical thinking for high-acuity situations
• Ability to manage call responsibilities and prioritize patient safety under pressure
