Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare, season, and cook meals for patients, staff, and visitors following established recipes and dietary guidelines
- Follow written and verbal instructions from the Chef/Patient Foodservice Manager and adapt quickly as priorities change
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation at all times
- Organize tasks efficiently and multitask to keep meal service running smoothly
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and clinical staff to ensure timely, accurate patient meal delivery
- Assist with food prep, inventory tasks, and maintaining clean work areas
Qualifications
- 2-4 years full-time cooking experience required (hospital/institutional experience a plus)
- High school diploma required
- Graduate of a formal technical school in hotel or institutional cooking strongly preferred
- Medical terminology coursework preferred
- Supervisory signed reference from within the past two years required
- Permanent address required on profile and candidate must have reliable personal vehicle
- Able to read, write and follow oral/written instructions and work well with diverse populations
Education
- High school diploma (required)
- Graduate of a formal technical/culinary school specializing in hotel or institutional cooking (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong cooking and food preparation skills with institutional experience
- Food safety knowledge and commitment to sanitation standards
- Patient foodservice practices and dietary accommodations awareness
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Time management and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen
- Organizational skills and adaptability as department needs change
