Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, treating each person with dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding) to promote comfort and independence
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed
• Monitor resident condition and behavior; promptly report changes to nursing staff and document observations accurately
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment by communicating clearly with coworkers and participating in care planning
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and facility safety procedures

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent in Maryland, or eligible to obtain
• Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or required by facility
• Current immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings and background checks
• Prior experience working with older adult populations preferred; a caring attitude and strong work ethic are essential
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or approved training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and the common needs of older adults
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and supporting resident mobility and safety
• Competent documentation and reporting skills to maintain accurate resident records
• Familiarity with infection control practices and proper use of PPE
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to de-escalate stressful situations
