Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and the surgical team during procedures, ensuring patient safety and smooth case flow
• Prepare and set up surgical instruments, disposables, and specialty equipment prior to cases
• Maintain a superior sterile conscience by consistently applying principles of asepsis and sterile technique
• Communicate clearly with circulating RNs and surgeons about any breaks in technique or equipment issues
• Operate and demonstrate competency with electrosurgical, diagnostic, and video equipment used in the OR
• Collaborate with Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, and Materials Management to ensure timely equipment availability
• Confirm all necessary equipment is in the room and functioning prior to incision to support efficient, safe care

Qualifications

• Certification as an OR Surgical Technologist (required)
• Current CPR certification (required)
• Orthopedic surgical experience (must have); comfortable assisting in ortho cases
• Demonstrated sterile technique and strong sterile conscience
• Familiarity with sterile processing, endoscopy, and materials management workflows
• Competency operating electrosurgical, diagnostic, video, and disposable surgical equipment
• Willingness to participate in equitable on-call rotation including weekends
