Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients on the night floor
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
• Manage admissions, discharges, and transitions within the swing bed program
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Document care thoroughly in the patient record and communicate handoffs clearly
• Support patients and families with education and discharge planning
• Maintain situational awareness with a patient-nurse ratio typically 4/5 to 1

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply)
• Experience in floor nursing; comfort working night shifts and 12-hour schedules
• Familiarity with swing bed program care and transition-level patients
• Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills for a small, critical access setting
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to handle variable workloads

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in night-shift patient assessment and monitoring
• Experience with swing bed patient needs and transition care
• Medication administration and documentation proficiency
• Ability to manage a patient load around a 4/5 to 1 ratio
• Comfortable with electronic health records and clear handoffs
• Calm, decisive problem-solving in a small hospital environment
