Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate sonograms for technical quality and ensure diagnostic images meet standards
- Perform equipment calibrations, adjustments and routine checks to keep systems reliable
- Select technical factors and imaging modes to optimize image quality for each patient
- Coordinate and delegate patient care, acting as supervisor in the absence of leadership
- Assist with staffing tasks including schedule completion, payroll review and addressing staffing needs
- Lead staff education, in-services and specialized training to elevate team skills
- Participate in hiring and orientation to onboard new team members effectively
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Identify and implement cost-saving and quality improvement ideas for the department
- Represent UnityPoint Health professionally and promote positive interpersonal relations
Qualifications
- Current registration/certification with ARDMS or ARRT in Sonography (required)
- Proven ability to evaluate ultrasound image quality and use correct machine settings
- Experience performing equipment calibrations and selecting technical imaging factors
- Comfort acting in a supervisory or lead role when needed
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with physicians and staff
- Commitment to maintaining current professional expertise and participating in ongoing education
