Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition across medical and surgical units, adjusting care plans as needed
• Provide hands-on nursing care including wound VAC management and chest tube oversight
• Operate and document care in Meditech EMR and manage medications via Pyxis
• Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute), and occasionally Cardiovascular units with adaptability and professionalism
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, patient-centered care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Support unit staffing needs and uphold professional nursing standards and dress code
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain competency across areas

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by assignment start
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Preferred: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• 2-10 years of RN experience (medical-surgical and float experience highly valued)
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound VACs, and chest tube management
• Comfort working 12-hour day shifts and floating across multiple units

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and patient assessment
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR and electronic documentation
• Medication administration workflows and Pyxis experience
• Wound VAC and chest tube care knowledge
• Ability to manage varying nurse-to-patient ratios and prioritize safely
• Excellent communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to float between units and learn new unit-specific workflows
