Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for CVICU, MS ICU and PCU patients, managing complex post-op cardiac and medical cases
• Interpret EKGs and ABGs and act decisively on clinical findings
• Manage ventilators and participate in ventilator weaning and troubleshooting
• Titrate critical care drips safely (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, anticoagulants, anti-arrhythmics)
• Operate and assist with advanced therapies including CRRT (Prismaflex), IABP, Impella and VAD support when indicated
• Perform bedside procedures and manage lines: arterial lines, chest tubes, Swan-Ganz catheters
• Participate in rapid response and code blue teams and support unit surge needs
• Float between units and collaborate with multidisciplinary team (intensivists, RTs, NPs) to deliver seamless care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Arizona)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience preferred (ICU/CVICU experience highly valued)
• Strong EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills - candidate must pass dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) prior to contract signing
• Experience with ventilator management and titration of drips
• Prefer experience with Prismaflex CRRT and IABP; experience with Impella, TAVR, VADs, and post-op open heart care is a plus
• Willingness to float across ICU/PCU/MST and work required weekend and holiday coverage
• Must comply with facility radius/employment rules (no full-time/part-time/PRN at CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities within the past year; 50 mile radius restriction applies)

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical Care Nursing fundamentals (ICU and CVICU)
• EKG and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Ventilator management, weaning and troubleshooting
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Telemetry and continuous monitoring (Nihon Kohden systems)
• Titration of vasoactive and sedative drips
• CRRT (Prismaflex) operation and troubleshooting
• Management of mechanical circulatory support: IABP, Impella, VAD
• Post-op open heart care and fresh CABG/Valve patient management
• Manual proning techniques and advanced airway familiarity (Glidescope, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP)
