Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered labor and delivery care for routine and high-risk patients
• Attend and assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, offering calm clinical leadership in the OR
• Circulate, scrub, and recover for OB-GYN surgeries while maintaining strict sterile technique
• Monitor and interpret fetal tracings and take timely, decisive action to support maternal and fetal wellbeing
• Manage epidurals, PCA, infusion therapies, medication drips, and blood product administration safely and confidently
• Perform triage and sterile vaginal exams, support couplet care, and assist with nursery transitions
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic to support unit quality and safety initiatives
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes and improve the patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license ready to practice (compact accepted where applicable)
• ADN required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience preferred; strong related experience considered
• Travel nursing experience required — unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• Preferred certifications: ACLS and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
• Competency with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experience charting in Epic strongly preferred and comfort working night shifts

Education

• ADN required
• BSN preferred
• Active RN license (compact accepted where applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring and interpretation, including internal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Labor and delivery management for routine and high-risk births
• Medication administration including drips, epidural and PCA management
• Safe blood and transfusion monitoring practices and central line care
• Use and troubleshooting of common L&D equipment such as epidural pumps and syringe pumps
• Surgical assisting and strict sterile technique for C-sections
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Proficiency charting in Epic with accurate, timely documentation
