Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Day shift; hours negotiable — options include three 12-hour day shifts, four 10-hour day shifts, or five 8-hour day shifts (start/end times set during interview). Approximately every 5th weekend on call (split between Call 1 and Call 2); 1-2 calls per week possible. 30-minute on-site response required. Holiday call rotation may apply.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons across orthopedic, neurosurgery and vascular procedures with precision and calm under pressure
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments and sterile fields to ensure safe, efficient cases
• Perform central processing and instrument management with meticulous attention to detail
• Respond to on-call notifications and arrive on-site within the required 30-minute window
• Anticipate surgical team needs and provide critical thinking during dynamic OR situations
• Document case activity and maintain accurate instrumentation logs
• Support holiday and weekend coverage per department rotation and staffing needs
• Collaborate with perioperative staff to maintain patient safety and high-quality care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• CST certification preferred but not required
• Proven experience in orthopedic, neurosurgery and vascular cases — broad, current OR experience required
• Comfort with central processing and instrumentation best practices
• Ability to meet on-call response time (30 minutes) and participate in weekend/holiday rotations
• Excellent critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills
• Minimal RTO preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR protocols
• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and central processing workflows
• Critical thinking and rapid problem-solving in high-stakes environments
• Effective communication with surgeons, nurses and perioperative teams
• Time management and ability to prioritize across multiple cases
• Familiarity with orthopedic, neuro and vascular surgical procedures
