Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (3x12). Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (3 shifts/week). Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week). Schedule includes weekends and variable weekend coverage; rotating day/night coverage.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for ventilated and hemodynamically compromised patients, ensuring safe ventilator and CRRT management
• Manage arterial and central lines, start and maintain IVs, and administer blood products with precision
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips and manage continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation monitoring
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac events and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to support continuity of care and interdisciplinary communication
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other services to coordinate complex care plans
• Practice infection prevention and isolation precautions to keep patients and staff safe
• Serve as a patient advocate and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years recent critical care/ICU experience (must meet requirements within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required)
• Travel experience required; no first-time travelers allowed
• Experience with mechanical ventilation, ventilator management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Skilled in arterial/central line management, PICC care, blood product administration, and IV therapy
• Familiarity with CRRT (NxStage machines) and care of patients on renal replacement therapy
• Certifications preferred: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Ability to chart in Epic (charting system required)
• Comfort managing complex medication titrations including vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Orientation: approximately 72 hours as part of onboarding
• Flu vaccine required per facility guidelines (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and ICU nursing fundamentals and advanced monitoring
• Mechanical ventilation, ventilator management, and interpretation of arterial blood gases
• CRRT setup and monitoring (NxStage experience a plus)
• Arterial, central line, and PICC care and troubleshooting
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring
• Blood product administration and IV therapy skills
• Epic charting and electronic documentation best practices
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and phlebotomy skills
• Use of specialty equipment: Cortrak NG/Dobhoff placement, Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors
