Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents to promote dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support mobility and fall-prevention measures while encouraging independence
• Monitor and document resident condition changes and communicate concerns to the nursing team
• Help maintain a clean, safe and supportive environment for residents
• Build positive relationships with residents and their families through clear, respectful communication

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (or equivalent) as required by Maryland
• Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a certified nursing assistant/GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused support
• Basic clinical skills such as assisting with ADLs and measuring vital signs
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Comfortable with documentation and clear communication with the care team
• Patience, compassion, and the ability to build rapport with older adults
