Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality peri-procedural nursing care for cardiac cath and interventional cardiology patients
• Prepare, circulate, and assist during complex procedures including TAVR and other structural heart interventions
• Monitor patients closely during procedural sedation and manage hemodynamics and IV therapies
• Perform sheath removal, vascular closure device care, and apply topical hemostasis as needed
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG tracings and support post-procedure recovery and monitoring
• Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient flow and exceptional outcomes
• Float to other UCSF facilities as required, maintaining flexibility and teamwork

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required)
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 5+ years experience in Cardiac Cath / Interventional Cardiology
• Practical experience with Structural Heart procedures and TAVR
• Comfortable with Cath/EP workflows and pre/post procedural care
• Ability to float to other UCSF facilities and work holiday coverage as scheduled
• COVID-19 vaccination plus booster required per facility policy (medical/religious exemptions only)

Education

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac Cath Lab procedures including diagnostic and interventional catheterizations
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and structural heart interventions
• Monitoring and management of procedural sedation
• Sheath removal and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
• Topical hemostasis techniques (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)
• IV therapy, central line assistance, blood product administration, and IV vasopressors
• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation
• Circulating in procedure rooms, infection prevention, and appropriate PPE use
• Familiarity with advanced devices: IABP, Impella, VADs, pacemaker/defibrillator lead management
