Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating surgeon needs
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure a safe operative field
• Perform instrument counts and document all surgical items accurately
• Support patient preparation and positioning with care and professionalism
• Manage OR turnover efficiently to help keep the schedule on track
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia to deliver excellent patient care
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent training
• Prior OR experience preferred, with ability to adapt to multiple specialties
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning
• Willingness to comply with facility onboarding, background checks, and health requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating room instrumentation and sterile technique expertise
• Familiarity with surgical procedures across common specialties
• Infection control and patient safety best practices
• Instrument sterilization and OR turnover processes
• Clear and accurate clinical documentation skills
• Attention to detail and situational awareness in high-pressure environments
