Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for ICU/PCU/MST patients, delivering safe, high-acuity nursing
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and perform 12-lead EKGs as needed
• Titrate drips (sedation, vasopressors, insulin) per protocol to stabilize patients
• Manage ventilator and respiratory-supported patients in collaboration with RT
• Document thoroughly in Cerner and maintain accurate bedside cardiac monitor records
• Float between designated units when needed to support patient care and maintain competency
• Participate in charge/standby rotations and support unit staffing needs
• Contribute to multidisciplinary care plans and communicate effectively with providers and families

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (must be able to submit license)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (1 year ICU + 1 year PCU/Med-Surg considered if from larger facilities)
• Proven ability to titrate drips and manage vasoactive medications
• Comfortable with ventilator/respiratory support protocols and collaborating with RT
• Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia recognition and 12-lead EKGs
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam (80% score) within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Must meet radius and employment history rules (no CommonSpirit facility employment in past year; 50-mile radius rule applies)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ECG/dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring skills
• Proficiency with bedside cardiac monitors and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Knowledge of ventilator management and respiratory support modalities (Vent, BiPAP, CPAP)
• Competence in titration of sedation, vasopressors and insulin drips
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Ability to provide primary care assignments when nurse aides are unavailable
• Critical thinking for rapid assessment of sepsis, DKA, respiratory arrest and post-op complications
• Flexibility to float across MCU, PCU, MST and Pediatric units while maintaining quality care
