Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition with compassion and clinical accuracy
• Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans
• Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques in behavioral health situations
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly and timely
• Educate patients and family members on care plans, medications, and safety measures
• Participate actively in orientation and unit-based quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (RN) in California or compact RN with California authorization
• Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) certification is a plus or as required for dual-role coverage
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Experience or comfort working in correctional or secure healthcare settings is highly desirable
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a calm, patient-focused approach to care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
• Completion of required continuing education and facility-mandated trainings

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and triage in medical and psychiatric presentations
• Medication administration and documentation best practices
• Crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavioral health safety protocols
• Electronic health record documentation and charting accuracy
• Team collaboration, clear handoffs, and interdisciplinary communication
• Compliance with correctional facility policies and security-conscious care delivery
