Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise ~45 FTEs across Plant Operations, Maintenance and Environmental Services, setting clear expectations and developing training plans
- Direct preventive maintenance and repair programs to ensure continuous operation of heat, steam, power, gas and medical gas systems
- Inspect equipment and systems to meet operational standards and manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local building and fire codes and oversee contractor compliance
- Serve as a cross-department liaison to assess needs, develop action plans and ensure facility support for patient care
- Develop customer service expectations and respond to employee and customer concerns professionally and promptly
- Manage environmental services, bio-waste/autoclaving processes and grounds operations to maintain a safe, clean facility
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience (required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste management, life safety codes and construction phasing
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (required)
- Familiarity with NFPA, OSHA, EPA and CMS standards (preferred)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Facilities management and plant operations
- Environmental services (EVS) operations and bio-waste handling
- Preventive maintenance and building systems (HVAC, boilers, plumbing, electrical)
- Life safety codes and regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS)
- Personnel management, training plan development and contractor oversight
- Troubleshooting and applying engineering principles to equipment repair
- Customer service expectations and interdepartmental collaboration
