Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and assist the RN with room and equipment setup to ensure safe, efficient procedural care
• Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and peripheral procedures
• Operate x-ray equipment accurately and independently while maintaining strict radiation safety compliance
• Obtain hemostasis safely after procedures and assist with post-procedure patient care
• Document procedures thoroughly and accurately in the MacLab system
• Perform procedure room turnover following Infection Control protocols after every case
• Administer intracoronary medication per Bayhealth and unit policies when indicated
• Participate in ongoing education, workshops and in-services and maintain required certifications

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program required
• RCIS required for Cardiovascular Technology graduates or ARRT (RT) required for Radiologic Technologist graduates; obtain within specified timeframes if not already held
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Eighteen (18) months of diagnostic radiology experience OR completion of an accredited radiologic/CV tech program with Program Director and Clinical Site Preceptor letters of recommendation
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience including diagnostic, interventional and electrophysiology procedures
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology is a plus

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences OR graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization and peripheral angiography procedures
• Diagnostic radiology and radiologic technology principles
• X-ray equipment operation and radiation safety best practices
• MacLab documentation and procedural record keeping
• Hemostasis techniques and post-procedure vascular care
• Infection control and procedure room turnover workflow
• Experience with electrophysiology and interventional lab procedures is a strong plus
• Ability to assist with intracoronary medication administration per policy
