Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes
• Prepare the CVOR suite and instruments, maintain sterile technique, and support surgeons throughout procedures
• Monitor and assess intraoperative patient status, communicating changes promptly to the surgical team
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical techs, and support staff to coordinate efficient case flow
• Document intraoperative care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Participate in pre- and post-operative patient handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Contribute to a culture of safety by following protocols, reporting concerns, and supporting quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to work in the assignment state as required)
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR or relevant perioperative nursing experience (explicitly listed)
• Certifications as required by the facility (e.g., BLS) — facility-specific credentials will be confirmed during onboarding
• Successful completion of travel/contract credentialing and background checks
• Strong teamwork, communication, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced OR environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with cardiovascular operating room procedures and instrumentation
• Strong sterile technique and operating room asepsis practices
• Intraoperative patient monitoring and assessment skills
• Effective perioperative communication and teamwork
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting practices
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases efficiently
