Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately document patient information and maintain orderly charts
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers with procedures and minor surgeries
• Perform specimen collection, labeling, transporting, and Point of Care Testing (POCT)
• Administer immunizations and injections as ordered by providers
• Set up equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures
• Monitor patients, report changes in condition, and respond appropriately in emergencies
• Operate common medical equipment such as BP cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG, cardiac monitor and manual defibrillator
• Provide cross-coverage to support clinic flow and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III OR current Alaska Certification OR Alaska Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree (from an accredited institution) accepted
• Experience in a healthcare or clinic setting preferred
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
• Comfortable using medical databases/EMR systems and learning new software
• Ability to work well in a team and provide compassionate patient care

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III OR Alaska Certification OR Alaska Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree from an accredited institution

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient charting and documentation, including age-appropriate vital signs
• Specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) procedures
• Immunization administration and vaccine record maintenance
• Familiarity with radiology exam procedures (per competency) and EKG basics
• Clinic workflow management and patient transport within facility
• Proficiency with common medical equipment: blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, cardiac monitor, manual defibrillator
• Strong clinical communication and customer service skills
• Ability to recognize and respond to emergency situations
