Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered labor and delivery nursing care for laboring patients
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe deliveries
• Circulate in the OR for obstetric procedures and assist during cesarean deliveries
• Administer medications and therapies including MgSO4 and manage postpartum hemorrhage protocols
• Support couplet care practices to keep newborns with their parents and promote breastfeeding
• Document care thoroughly using CPN and Meditech to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with the laborist team, midwives, CRNAs, and OBs to personalize birth plans and uphold patient choice
• Respond promptly to emergencies and escalate care when necessary to keep moms and babies safe

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the practicing state (or compact eligible) and current healthcare provider status
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and competency in fetal monitoring
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery or related obstetric care
• Experience with OR circulating, IUPC, FSE, and management of postpartum hemorrhage preferred
• Comfort with couplet care and working within a laborist/midwife team model
• Strong communication skills and dedication to patient-centered, evidence-based care

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in fetal monitoring interpretation and intrapartum assessment
• Experience with documentation systems CPN and Meditech
• Skilled in OR circulating and bedside obstetric procedures (IUPC, FSE)
• Knowledge of MgSO4 administration, nitrous oxide usage, and JADA system for hemorrhage management
• Familiarity with couplet care principles and breastfeeding support
• Comfortable floating between related units and adapting to dynamic staffing needs
• Familiarity with Spinning Babies techniques and STABLE helpful but not required
