Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and Newborn care areas
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced fetal heart monitoring techniques
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilize newborns as needed
• Support and educate breastfeeding families in line with BFHI practices
• Assist with and care for patients undergoing C-sections, in collaboration with the surgical and anesthesia teams
• Serve as charge nurse on occasion after completing charge training, coordinating patient assignments and unit workflow
• Float to other departments when qualified, providing competent patient care or task-based support

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 5 years recent Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and Newborn experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (or ALSO), BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced FHM (RNC-EFM may substitute for AWHONN FHM)
• Comfortable with and experienced in managing average delivery volume (~40 deliveries/month) and C-section support (~6/month)
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and remain flexible for other shifts, weekends and holidays
• Willingness to float to other departments as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery best practices and maternal/newborn care
• Advanced fetal heart monitoring (AWHONN FHM or RNC-EFM)
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and newborn stabilization
• ACLS and BLS emergency cardiac care
• Breastfeeding support and BFHI principles
• Experience assisting with C-sections and perioperative newborn care
• Charge nurse responsibilities, unit coordination and leadership
• Strong communication, patient education and family-centered care
