Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and perioperative needs
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the surgical team
• Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and families to support informed care
• Use clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition promptly
• Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing across heavy ortho, urology, spine and robotic cases
• Float to clinically appropriate units and other facilities as needed to support patient care
• Maintain complete and accurate medical documentation for all patients
• Participate in continuing education and contribute to a healthy workplace through professional communication

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (required)
• Perioperative/Operating Room nursing experience
• Experience with orthopedic, urology, spine and robotic surgical cases preferred
• Comfort with floating to other units and covering call as part of the team
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, and medical documentation skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and operating room workflow
• Patient assessment and care planning
• Clinical judgment in perioperative and acute settings
• BLS/CPR and ACLS protocols
• Medical documentation and charting best practices
• Experience with robotic-assisted surgery and orthopedic procedures
• Ability to adapt and float across units including PACU/recovery and progressive care areas
• Collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams
