Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and perform thorough medical evaluations, documenting findings clearly and professionally
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and facility protocols
• Coordinate patient care with the interdisciplinary team and custody staff to ensure safety and continuity
• Respond to urgent situations calmly and effectively, prioritizing patient and staff safety
• Educate patients and provide clear discharge instructions with empathy and respect
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and complete timely shift handoffs
• Participate in orientation and mentor new staff throughout the two-week onboarding

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in California required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred; correctional healthcare experience a strong plus
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet security clearance requirements
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills with a patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment, triage, and patient monitoring
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Infection control practices and chronic disease management
• Electronic medical record documentation and accurate charting
• Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment and collaborate with custody personnel
• Calm, decisive problem solving in fast-paced clinical scenarios
