Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and newborn care areas
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced fetal heart monitoring and intervene appropriately
• Perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and support immediate newborn stabilization
• Serve as charge nurse after completing charge training, coordinating patient flow and team assignments
• Assist with C-sections and support surgical team as needed for perioperative care
• Educate and support new mothers and families on BFHI practices and newborn care
• Float to other departments when qualified, providing compassionate patient care and task support

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with state requirements
• Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced FHM (RNC-EFM may be substituted)
• Demonstrated ability to function as charge nurse after appropriate training
• Comfortable floating to other departments and performing both patient-load and task-oriented duties when needed
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and teamwork focus

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in fetal heart monitoring (AWHONN Advanced FHM or RNC-EFM)
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care
• Experience with labor management and postpartum care
• Familiarity with BFHI practices and supporting breastfeeding families
• Ability to assist in C-section workflows and intraoperative newborn readiness
• Leadership skills for charge nurse responsibilities and effective unit coordination
