Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult ICU patients, managing complex conditions like trauma, sepsis, cardiac events, stroke and respiratory failure
• Assess, monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data, documenting findings in EPIC
• Titrate drips and manage infusion therapies (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation) safely and according to protocol
• Troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment as needed and collaborate with RTs for advanced interventions
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient plans of care
• Safely manage 1:2-1:3 nurse:patient ratios and escalate concerns in a timely manner
• Support unit workflow by floating to PCU/MedSurg when needed and adjusting patient assignments appropriately
• Participate in orientation and competency validation (including a weekly pass/fail skills exam during orientation)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (eligible to submit) — must meet facility radius rules at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU/critical care experience preferred (experience working with telemetry and ventilators a plus)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Comfort and experience with drip titration (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation)
• Ability to use EPIC for charting and documentation
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submission (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Willingness to comply with hospital policies (including nail/artificial nail policy) and orientation testing requirements
• Ability to work rotating nights and meet holiday/weekend requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring (GE monitor experience helpful)
• Drip titration and IV infusion management
• Ventilator support and troubleshooting from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• Trauma, cardiac, stroke and sepsis management
• Patient assessment and critical thinking in high-acuity settings
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and handoff skills
• Basic familiarity with PCU/MedSurg workflows for occasional float assignments
