Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to MedSurgical patients using established standards and best practices
• Float between units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to meet patient care demands
• Perform and document patient assessments, monitor telemetry, and respond to changes in condition
• Start and maintain IVs, manage lines and phlebotomy tasks safely and efficiently
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — respiratory, PT, pharmacy, lab and more — to coordinate care
• Participate in Rapid Response/Code team activities and support emergency interventions
• Chart accurately and timely in EPIC to maintain clear, defensible patient records
• Manage patient assignments at ratios of approximately 1:4-5 while prioritizing safety and outcomes

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of MedSurgical nursing experience
• Current BCLS certification required
• Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Travel nursing experience required
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:4-5 and adapt to floating between units
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, CPI, NIHSS
• Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurgical nursing and telemetry monitoring expertise
• IV therapy, PICC and central line care, and phlebotomy competence
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Familiarity with EPIC (EHR) charting and documentation workflows
• Experience with respiratory supports: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, tracheostomy care
• ABG interpretation and experience with heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Wound care including Wound VAC management and post-op orthopedic care
• Comfort responding as part of Rapid Response/Code teams
