Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate MedSurg patient care, including post-op and recovery support — you’ll make a real difference during critical recovery windows
• Safely manage a patient assignment at a 1:5 ratio, prioritizing clinical needs and patient safety
• Float to other areas within scope as needed, offering flexibility and broadening your clinical expertise
• Accurately document care in EPIC so the team has up-to-date patient information
• Maintain BLS certification and follow unit policies (including infection control and fingernail policy) to protect patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on patient-centered plans of care
• Participate in orientation learning and pass the Friday skills exam (90% required) to remain on assignment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience (job listing shows 2 years required)
• BLS certification required prior to start
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius eligibility)
• Comfortable with EPIC charting and acute care/MedSurg workflows
• Ability to float within the unit scope and work post-op/recovery patients
• Willingness to complete orientation skills exam and meet the 90% pass threshold
• Adherence to facility policies (e.g., no artificial nails in patient care areas)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (per job details)

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurg nursing best practices and acute care assessments
• Post-operative/recovery patient monitoring and intervention
• EPIC electronic charting proficiency
• BLS and basic emergency response skills
• Experience with oxygen delivery methods (e.g., nasal cannula)
• Comfort managing oncology med/surg overflow patients
• Time management and prioritization for 12-hour night shifts
• Team communication and collaboration in a fast-paced Level 1 trauma center
