Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for critically ill adult cardiac ICU patients, including post-interventional and cardiogenic shock cases
• Manage ventilated patients and titrate ventilator settings safely and effectively
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central and arterial lines, and administer blood products when needed
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and 12-lead ECGs, responding to dysrhythmias and emergencies
• Perform ABG interpretation and manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter (Swan-Ganz)
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
• Operate and care for advanced mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, IABP) and CRRT when required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Social Work) to coordinate patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (cardiac/medical ICU experience highly relevant)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA certifications required)
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC documentation system (EPIC experience required)
• Demonstrated competency with ventilator management, IV starts and telemetry
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine NOT required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and care of the ventilated patient
• Arterial line and central line care/management, PICC line experience
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and titration of vasoactive drips
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT principles and renal support
• Familiarity with Impella, IABP, hemodynamic monitoring and post-cardiac cath care
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and proper PPE use
• Phlebotomy, blood product administration and procedural sedation monitoring
