Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, specialized care to neonates (22 weeks gestation and above) in a Level III NICU
• Manage respiratory support including ventilator settings (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and titration
• Administer medications using Pyxis and monitor IV therapies including vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
• Perform and manage arterial, central and umbilical catheter care (UAC/UVC) and related procedures
• Implement infection control and isolation precautions to protect vulnerable neonates
• Document accurate, timely patient care in EPIC and communicate effectively using SBAR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners (NP, pharmacy, PT, radiology, respiratory, social services) to optimize patient outcomes
• Support care for complex diagnoses including surgical, cardiac interventions, glucose management, and neonatal abstinence syndrome

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) — required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — required
• Minimum 1 year NICU experience (Level III/IV experience cited)
• Competency in dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiovascular management
• Demonstrated skill with ventilator management and advanced neonatal support
• Experience with IV therapy and arterial/central/umbilical catheter management
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication systems
• Prior experience at Nationwide Children's Hospital (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal nursing care for premature and critically ill neonates
• Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• IV therapy, IV vasopressors, surfactants and steroid administration
• Arterial line, central line, UAC and UVC management
• Feeding tube placement and management (oral, NG, NJ) and gavage feedings
• Infection control, isolation precautions and PPE best practices
• EPIC electronic documentation and Pyxis medication workflows
• Clear, structured communication using SBAR and strong family-centered care skills
