Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for stepdown/PCU patients across young adult to geriatric populations
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac monitors and act quickly on changes in patient condition
• Safely titrate IV drips including heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin, and insulin per protocol
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including CNAs, RTs, and charge nurse to ensure continuity of care
• Perform accurate EPIC charting and thorough bedside report with hourly rounding
• Manage admissions and discharges efficiently while maintaining patient safety and flow
• Participate in required competency assessments and complete orientation learning objectives

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure eligible for submission in Nebraska
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be active at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (preferred in stepdown/PCU or telemetry)
• Demonstrated experience with IV medication titration and telemetry interpretation
• Ability to pass unit competency/skills assessments during orientation (90% pass threshold for the exam)
• Valid driver’s license for radius verification at time of submission
• Comfort floating to med-surg, inpatient rehab, or skilled care as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and reading your own strips
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• IV drip titration and maintenance dosing
• Experience with BiPAP and Airvo respiratory support devices
• Strong prioritization, teamwork, and communication skills
• Ability to manage busy patient flow and multi-system complex patients
• Familiarity with charge nurse workflows and working with monitor techs
