Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift). Typical day schedule noted as 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM M-F with occasional late days to complete cases. Rotating call coverage including weekends and holidays (averaging 1-2 on-call days/week and every other or every 3rd weekend).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled perioperative nursing across Pre-Op, OR (Circulator), and PACU — be the go-to clinician who can flow between all three areas
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and document care clearly and professionally
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-anesthesia recovery care to ensure safe transitions
• Circulate cases efficiently in the OR and coordinate with anesthesia and surgical teams
• Assist with instrument processing and central sterile practices to maintain patient safety and infection control
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care
• Support unit operations by assisting other staff, coordinating transfers, and stepping into call coverage as scheduled
• Adhere to national standards and departmental policies to promote quality and safety (IAHCSMM, AORN, ASGE, ASPAN)

Qualifications

• Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — required
• ACLS certification — required
• Minimum experience working across Pre-Op, OR (Circulator) and PACU — 3 years preferred
• CNOR certification preferred
• Scrub experience preferred
• Familiarity with instrument processing/sterilization standards (IAHCSMM) and perioperative best practices
• Ability to work effectively under stress, communicate with diverse teams, and lift/stand for extended periods

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN graduate) with current Colorado RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and patient assessment across Pre-Op, OR and PACU
• Post-anesthesia care and safe recovery protocols
• Circulating nurse duties including case coordination and intraoperative support
• Infection control principles and instrument processing/sterilization
• Patient education, documentation, and handoff communication
• Comfort with general, OB/GYN, cataract, and periodic orthopedic surgical cases
