Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 06:30 AM - 06:30 PM (days) and 06:30 PM - 06:30 AM (nights). Schedule includes all days of the week with an every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday & Sunday) and holiday coverage (minimum 2 holidays during the contract). Typical guaranteed hours: 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for adult ICU patients, maintaining 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips, insulin, sedation and other titratable medications safely and per protocol
• Interpret and document telemetry/monitor strips accurately and collaborate with tele techs
• Troubleshoot basic ventilator/respiratory device issues and escalate to RTs as needed
• Use EPIC to document care, communicate with the care team, and ensure accurate patient records
• Deliver compassionate care for a broad case mix including trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, renal and respiratory cases
• Participate in required orientation, competency assessments and an open-book pass/fail exam during onboarding
• Respond to call-backs within required timeframes and adhere to facility policies (including fingernail/artificial nail standards)

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (able to submit license at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent critical care/ICU nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Strong telemetry interpretation skills and experience with titration of drips
• Comfortable with 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules, including every-other weekend
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Ability to complete required orientation and pass the orientation competency exam (90% pass threshold)

Education

• Active RN license (ADN or BSN acceptable); BSN preferred but not explicitly required

Knowledge & Skills

• Adult critical care nursing and ICU best practices
• Telemetry/strip interpretation and familiarity with GE monitor systems
• Titration of cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
• Ventilator/basic respiratory troubleshooting and working knowledge of RT collaboration
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Management of trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, renal failure and heart failure patients
• Effective documentation, communication and teamwork in an acute care environment
