Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the unit by coordinating nursing care and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes
• Manage staffing, scheduling and on-call coverage to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios
• Serve as the primary on-call resource for clinical and operational issues
• Mentor and develop nursing staff through coaching and performance feedback
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to streamline patient flow and discharge planning
• Drive compliance with regulatory standards, policies and quality improvement initiatives
• Monitor unit metrics and implement changes to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Maine — compact license acceptable if applicable)
• Proven experience in unit management or charge nurse roles; leadership experience preferred
• Comfort with on-call duties and managing clinical/operational escalations
• Current BLS required; advanced certifications (ACLS, management/leadership certificates) preferred
• Strong communication, conflict resolution and team-building skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
• Unit management and staff scheduling experience
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and documentation best practices
• Ability to analyze quality metrics and lead improvement initiatives
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
