Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients on a medical unit
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with orders
• Perform thorough assessments and document patient status in the medical record
• Collaborate with nursing staff, providers, and correctional facility personnel for coordinated care
• Respond promptly and effectively to changes in patient condition and emergent situations
• Maintain a safe, secure environment and follow facility-specific safety and custody protocols
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain competence and compliance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (RN) — California license strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and other advanced certifications a plus
• Clinical experience in medical or similar inpatient settings; prior correctional health experience is a plus
• Ability to pass facility background checks and comply with correctional facility requirements
• Strong communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and safe documentation in electronic medical records
• Wound care, IV therapy, and basic procedures common to medical units
• Infection control, patient safety, and de-escalation techniques in a secure environment
• Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize patient needs
