Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a MedSurg float unit, managing both surgical and medical patient populations
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized nursing plans
• Collaborate with monitor techs and confirm telemetry strips as needed to ensure patient safety
• Operate and monitor respiratory support like CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices when required
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and providers to coordinate care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in EPIC to maintain clear clinical records
• Respond to patient needs, prioritize workloads, and safely float between units as assigned

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensure required for practice)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred (MedSurg/Telemetry experience preferred)
• Experience charting in EPIC or similar electronic health record
• Comfortable working night shifts and participating in float assignments
• Ability to work with monitor techs and confirm telemetry, and collaborate on patient care decisions
• Able to perform duties without titrating drips (drip titration not required for this unit)

Education

• Active RN licensure required
• BSN not required (BSN Required: No)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid MedSurg nursing knowledge including care of post-op surgical patients and common medical diagnoses (CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetes management)
• Telemetry monitoring familiarity and ability to interpret/confirm strips
• Experience with respiratory support equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Proficient documentation skills in EPIC
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and time management abilities
• Comfortable floating across multiple MedSurg areas and adapting to different unit workflows
