Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients to identify functional limitations and develop individualized treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills and independence
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with PTs, SLPs, nursing and case management to coordinate comprehensive care
- Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to support safe discharge
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maximize independence and prevent injury
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Active Occupational Therapy license in Maryland or eligibility to obtain one quickly
- OTR credential or equivalent preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Clinical experience in rehabilitation, outpatient, or post-acute settings preferred (1+ year recommended)
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and a patient-centered approach
- Ability to work the scheduled days including weekends as required by the facility
Education
- Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Bachelor's, Master's, or OTD)
- Graduation from an accredited school of occupational therapy and completion of required clinicals
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in functional assessments and developing practical treatment plans
- Experience with adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and ADL training
- Solid documentation practices and comfort using electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to teach and coach patients and caregivers in a compassionate way
- Time management and caseload prioritization in a fast-paced rehab environment
