Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify, prepare and dispense medications accurately for the correctional population
• Review medication orders and provide clinical interventions when needed
• Collaborate with the medical team at PVSP to optimize medication therapy
• Maintain accurate medication records and manage controlled substance documentation
• Ensure pharmacy operations comply with state regulations and facility policies
• Provide patient counseling and medication education in a clear, respectful manner
• Support inventory management and ordering to maintain safe stock levels

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacist license in California or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred or equivalent pharmacy degree
• Experience in institutional, correctional, or hospital pharmacy is a strong plus
• Ability to pass background check, fingerprinting, and facility clearance
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and team mindset

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication therapy management and clinical review
• Knowledge of controlled substance handling and documentation
• Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and electronic medical records
• Strong accuracy in dispensing and verification processes
• Good inventory and stock management practices
• Comfort working within institutional/correctional healthcare environments
