Shift Type: Day shift; 40 hours/week typically as either four 10-hour day shifts or five 8-hour day shifts (start and end times negotiated during interview); approximately every 5th weekend on-call (split between Call 1 and Call 2) with 1-2 calls per week; all calls require a 30-minute on-site response time

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for general, vascular, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to keep cases moving safely
• Maintain strict sterile technique and instrument processing standards in the OR
• Participate in surgical counts and documentation to ensure patient safety
• Support perioperative patient care from pre-op setup through post-op handoff
• Assist with central processing tasks and instrument maintenance to maximize availability
• Respond to on-call notifications and mobilize to the hospital within the required response window

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
• Proven experience across multiple specialties including general, vascular, ortho, and neuro (broad, current OR experience required)
• Strong critical thinking and ability to function independently in high-acuity cases
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Candidates with minimal RTO will receive priority consideration

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in surgical instrumentation and sterile technique
• Hands-on perioperative care and operating room procedures
• Familiarity with central processing and instrument sterilization workflows
• Ability to support complex cases in vascular, orthopedic, and neurosurgery
• Clear communication skills and teamwork mindset in the OR environment
