Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess surgical patients and develop individualized perioperative care plans that prioritize safety
• Implement and evaluate care during procedures, adjusting interventions as needed
• Provide leadership in the OR by supervising room activities and coordinating schedule changes
• Assemble and verify surgical equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness before incision
• Assist anesthesia team as needed and maintain the sterile field throughout procedures
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, surgeons, nursing colleagues, managers, and ancillary teams
• Participate in staff development through preceptorship, in-services, and continuing education

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (must be current and active)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/OR nursing experience
• Epic experience highly preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Ability to provide Work History, updated Skills Checklist (within 1 year), and 2 supervisory reference forms (within last 2 years)
• Candidates' permanent address required; facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and sterile technique mastery
• Patient assessment and individualized care planning
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with Epic
• Ability to coordinate and communicate with multidisciplinary OR teams
• Anesthesia assistance basics and equipment/room setup
• Experience with staff development, preceptorship, and mentoring
