Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist patients with therapeutic exercise and stretching to improve mobility and function
• Implement components of patient care as directed and obtain treatment-related data
• Safely transfer and position patients from wheelchairs or walkers into the therapy area
• Collaborate closely with the Physical Therapist to modify care plans and maximize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on at-home techniques and balance training for safer daily living
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete administrative tasks such as scheduling and filing
• Keep the therapy area clean, organized, and ready for patient care

Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license — license must be active at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience — required
• LTC or SNF experience — required
• BLS (AHA) certification, active at time of start
• Certifications must be through AHA and active at time of assignment
• Resume and a skills checklist within the past year required at submission
• 0-1 professional references required at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient transfers and safe handling techniques
• Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
• Patient and family education for home programs and safety
• Accurate documentation and clinical charting
• Strong collaboration and communication with Physical Therapists and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the therapy area
• Comfort working with adults across the post-acute and long-term care continuum
