Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercise and stretching to improve mobility and function
- Implement components of patient care as directed and obtain treatment-related data
- Safely transfer and position patients from wheelchairs or walkers into the therapy area
- Collaborate closely with the Physical Therapist to modify care plans and maximize outcomes
- Educate patients and families on at-home techniques and balance training for safer daily living
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete administrative tasks such as scheduling and filing
- Keep the therapy area clean, organized, and ready for patient care
Qualifications
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license — license must be active at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of PTA experience — required
- LTC or SNF experience — required
- BLS (AHA) certification, active at time of start
- Certifications must be through AHA and active at time of assignment
- Resume and a skills checklist within the past year required at submission
- 0-1 professional references required at time of submission
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient transfers and safe handling techniques
- Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
- Patient and family education for home programs and safety
- Accurate documentation and clinical charting
- Strong collaboration and communication with Physical Therapists and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the therapy area
- Comfort working with adults across the post-acute and long-term care continuum
