Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Day, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, respectful care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
Support safe mobility and transfer techniques to prevent falls and promote independence
Document care provided and communicate clearly with the care team during handoffs
Help create a warm, home-like environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
Follow infection control, safety policies, and facility protocols at all times

Qualifications

GNA certification required (Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential)
Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
Comfortable working with older adults and those with mobility or cognitive challenges
Ability to pass background check and any state-required screenings
Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and elder care best practices
Skill in taking and documenting vital signs and basic clinical observations
Understanding of infection control and safe patient handling
Good interpersonal skills for compassionate resident interactions
Basic documentation skills and ability to follow care plans
