Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver client-centered occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of the OTR to help patients regain independence
• Assist with therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques for daily living tasks
• Monitor and document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and care teams to create and adjust treatment plans
• Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment and safety strategies
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, state regulations and best-practice standards

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Active state license or eligibility to practice as a COTA in New Mexico
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Experience working in rehabilitation or post-acute/contract settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant/OTA program
• Completion of COTA certification requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic techniques to improve activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Good clinical documentation and time-management abilities
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment and environmental modification strategies
• Ability to follow treatment plans and modify approaches based on patient response
• Comfortable working with a diverse adult patient population in a rehab setting
