Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care in a Med-Surg ICU environment, managing patients with respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, stroke and post-op complexities
• Manage and troubleshoot ventilators and advanced respiratory support from nasal cannula through ventilator modes
• Titrate vasoactive and sedative drips safely and according to protocol
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac strips independently using Draeger centralized monitoring systems
• Respond to codes and rapid response team (RRT) events and work with charge nurse leadership during critical events
• Collaborate closely with physicians, fellows and interdisciplinary teams to create and execute patient-centered care plans
• Perform invasive line management (CVPs, arterial lines) and assist with advanced monitoring (Swans, ICP, EV-1000) with on-the-job training available
• Document thoroughly in EPIC and participate in unit education, including orientation testing and competency validation

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in the state where assigned)
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience (required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification required
• Driver's license required at submission (used to verify 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Comfort and experience with EPIC charting
• Ability to safely titrate drips and manage high-acuity patients
• Willingness to complete orientation coursework and pass the open-book orientation exam with a 90% score
• Flexibility to float to other inpatient units (excluding Maternity/NICU) and work holiday/weekend rotations

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and ICU workflows
• Ventilator management and respiratory care troubleshooting
• Cardiac/telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Medication titration for vasopressors, paralytics, sedatives and antiarrhythmics
• Familiarity with CRRT and renal failure management (on-the-job training available)
• Experience or comfort with advanced monitoring: Swan-Ganz, ICP monitoring, EV-1000
• Basic familiarity with mechanical circulatory support concepts (Impella/IABP) and protocols
• Competence with rapid transfuser systems, internal chemo administration procedures and emergency response
