Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity critical care to adult and geriatric patients with professionalism and compassion
• Manage ventilated patients, titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, and interpret arterial blood gases
• Perform advanced cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs
• Provide skilled central line, arterial line and PICC line care while ensuring strict infection prevention
• Chart accurately and efficiently in Epic, documenting assessments, interventions and patient responses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, radiology and phlebotomy to optimize patient outcomes
• Lead emergency responses on the unit and administer procedural sedation and continuous IV sedation as needed
• Serve as a patient advocate, educating families and coordinating safe transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state authorization required prior to start; pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Must pass EKG exam, no exceptions
• Proven experience with Epic charting
• Prior night shift and 12-hour shift experience preferred
• Ability to float within scope to like units and to Betsy Johnson when needed
• First-time travelers are not preferred; acceptance is at manager discretion

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ventilator management
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia identification and management
• EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation
• IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, ports and PICCs
• Central line, arterial line and hemodynamic monitoring
• Medication titration for vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Experience with advanced supports such as ECMO, IABP, Impella and VAD care
• CRRT/CVVHD knowledge and management
• ABG interpretation and ventilator troubleshooting
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and safe blood product administration
