Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced critical care to ICU patients, including ventilator management and post-CABG care
• Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and adjust therapies in collaboration with intensivists
• Manage ventilated and high-acuity patients, including participation in ECMO and heart transplant care when indicated
• Provide clear, compassionate bedside shift reports and updates to the whiteboard to ensure continuity of care
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Meditech
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team—respiratory therapists, surgeons, cardiology and support staff—to drive excellent outcomes
• Float to other ICUs or the PCU as needed while maintaining high standards of patient safety and professionalism
• Adhere to unit policies including dress code and infection control while modeling respectful behavior

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of recent ICU experience (critical care/ICU background required)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Comfort and experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-CABG care
• Meditech experience preferred; CVICU, ECMO and heart transplant experience a strong plus
• Ability to work rotating night shifts and weekends with a team-first attitude
• Strong communication skills and commitment to bedside reporting and patient-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips
• Post-operative cardiac care (CABG, cardiac cath follow-up)
• ECMO fundamentals and care of transplant patients (experience preferred)
• Proficient documentation in Meditech and accurate shift handoffs
• High-acuity assessment skills, rapid clinical decision-making
• Team communication, multidisciplinary coordination, and professional bedside manner
