Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality intrapartum care to laboring patients in a busy L&D unit
• Manage OB triage assessments and prioritize care for high-acuity patients
• Circulate and assist in C-sections in the OR, supporting both scrub and circulating roles as needed
• Administer and monitor IV drips such as magnesium and other obstetric infusions
• Support epidural and spinal procedures and assist with cerclage and external cephalic version when performed
• Utilize Meditech and CPN documentation systems to maintain accurate patient records
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including NICU (Level III) to ensure seamless patient transitions

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Virginia)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (experience in Labor & Delivery preferred)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification listed as a hospital-specific certification
• Comfort and experience in fast-paced L&D settings and high-acuity care
• Experience circulating in the OR and familiarity with C-section support is a plus
• Comfort with Meditech and CPN electronic documentation systems

Education

• Active RN license required (state of practice: Virginia)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong intrapartum and triage assessment skills
• Familiarity with fetal heart rate interpretation and labor management
• Ability to manage high-acuity obstetric situations and respond calmly under pressure
• Skilled with obstetric procedures support: C-section circulation, epidurals, spinals, cerclage, external cephalic version
• Proficient with Meditech and CPN electronic medical records
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
