Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
• Administer manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, ambulation training, modalities, and use of assistive devices
• Assess patient progress and communicate recommended adjustments to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Document treatment minutes and clinical notes accurately in the electronic medical record per regulatory requirements
• Report treatment outcomes and contribute to discharge planning with the supervising therapist
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about treatment plans and safe use of assistive equipment
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review, and required facility trainings
• Support and supervise students when guided by the Physical Therapist

Qualifications

• Active PTA license (Texas) required, compact allowed where applicable
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience required
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehab required
• Comfortable practicing under PT supervision and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
• Proficient in documentation within an EMR and accurate recording of treatment minutes
• Skilled in manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, modalities, ambulation training, and DME procurement
• Willingness to participate in facility meetings and ongoing in-services

Knowledge & Skills

• Evidence-based rehabilitative treatment approaches and patient assessment
• Strong documentation skills in electronic medical records
• Familiarity with APTA and state practice acts and regulatory compliance
• Ability to use assistive and supportive devices and recommend DME
• Clear communication with supervising PT, patients, caregivers, and the clinical team
• Time and productivity management in an in-house therapy model
• Comfort supervising students and supporting professional development
