Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor and record vital signs and observe changes in resident condition
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in resident charts
• Collaborate with nursing staff and the care team to implement care plans
• Ensure a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents
• Communicate respectfully with residents and families, advocating for resident needs

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in assisting with ADLs
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team

Education

• GNA certification or completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Skilled in safe patient handling and transfers
• Able to take and record vital signs accurately
• Good documentation and time-management skills
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safety protocols
