Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour nights). Rotating nights that include every third weekend; 12 hours of on-call per 4-week schedule. Travel assignment (13-week duration).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care for laboring mothers including 1:1 labor support when needed
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret tracings, escalating concerns per protocol
• Assist in vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections as part of the OB team
• Deliver antepartum, postpartum and newborn care with strong attention to safety and family-centered care
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech/CPN to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with physicians, nursery staff, OB techs and leadership to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery and newborn care in a kind, clear way
• Maintain infant security procedures and unit safety standards at all times

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to work in Virginia or via compact privileges)
• Minimum 2 years of labor and delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP and AWHONN fetal monitoring
• Experience with Meditech/CPN and GE fetal monitors strongly preferred
• Comfortable working in an LDRP environment and managing high birth volumes
• Ability to work nights and participate in rotating weekend/on-call schedule

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current RN licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

• Vaginal deliveries and Cesarean section support
• Antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum nursing care
• Newborn assessment and nursery care
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and AWHONN-standard practice
• Proficiency with EMR systems (Meditech, CPN)
• Familiarity with GE fetal monitors and unit equipment
• Ability to manage 1:1 labor patient care and higher ratios on postpartum/nursery
