Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients comprehensively to identify barriers to daily living and meaningful activity
- Develop individualized OT plans that target function, safety, and independence
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions and adaptive strategies
- Document progress clearly and timely in the patient record to guide team care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create cohesive discharge and care plans
- Educate patients and families on home strategies, adaptive equipment, and safety
- Advocate for patient needs and help connect them to community resources
Qualifications
- Current California Occupational Therapy license or eligibility to obtain licensure in CA
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (OTR/OTD or equivalent)
- NBCOT certification preferred or in progress
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Clinical experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and teamwork—able to partner with patients, families, and clinicians
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (OTR/OTD preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and intervention planning
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, splinting, and adaptive equipment
- Familiarity with mobility and transfer techniques and fall prevention strategies
- Comfortable setting measurable goals and tracking outcomes
- Good clinical reasoning, time management, and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to teach patients and caregivers practical home strategies
